The exhibition VETTE. Stories of Sport and Mountains opens on 27 January at Palazzo Besta in Teglio (Sondrio). The exhibition explores the deep and complex relationship between sport, the Alpine environment, and society, on the occasion of Milano Cortina 2026 and as part of the official program of the Cultural Olympiad.
Organized by the Regional Directorate of National Museums of Lombardy (Ministry of Culture) with the support of Regione Lombardia, the exhibition is presented in collaboration with the National Mountain Museum “Duca degli Abruzzi” in Turin and the Regional Directorate of National Museums of Veneto – National Museum Collezione Salce. It also relies on a broad network of collaborations and partners, ranging from private collectors to local institutions and associations.
Open to the public until 30 August 2026, the exhibition offers—through Olympic posters and memorabilia, as well as ethnographic materials—a reflection on sport not only as competition, but as a historical, social, and cultural phenomenon capable of profoundly shaping the landscape, communities, and ways of living in the mountains.
Admission to the opening event is free, with mandatory reservation.
