Grosotto: Medieval History and Alpine Nature Along the Valtellina Trail

Grosotto: Medieval History and Alpine Nature Along the Valtellina Trail

Prati di Punta Park, with its charming lake, a green oasis at the foot of Grosotto, perfect for leisurely walks and enjoying nature.

Grosotto, a historic village in Central Valtellina, is a fascinating destination for those who appreciate medieval heritage, sacred art, and unspoiled alpine nature. Despite centuries of invasions and looting, the town preserves important architectural landmarks.

Walking along Via Patrioti, visitors can admire historical elements like the old parish house with its sculpted stone portal, the Pillar of the Pillory, and Casa Stoppani with its traditional fountain and washhouse.

One of Grosotto’s religious icons is the Sanctuary of the Blessed Virgin of Graces, built in 1487 and adorned with 18th-century frescoes and a precious Serassi organ.

Nature lovers will enjoy Parco Prati di Punta, a riverside green park along the Adda River, perfect for families, with artificial lakes, play areas, sports fields, and quiet zones for relaxation.

Just minutes from Grosotto, archaeology enthusiasts can explore the Rock Engravings Park, where prehistoric art and alpine landscape blend into a one-of-a-kind cultural experience.

Grosotto is also a great base for exploring the nearby Valgrosina or for biking and hiking the scenic Sentiero Valtellina, a panoramic trail through vineyards, villages, and breathtaking views.

Discover Grosotto: where culture and nature meet between ancient walls and green riverside parks!
