Documented since the 11th century, this small church stands in a stunning location on a natural balcony overlooking spectacular panoramic views. From here, you can see the Basilica of Tirano and the surrounding area, looking like a perfect mountain painting rich with history.
For centuries, Santa Perpetua was a vital crossroads along routes connecting the Rhine and Inn valleys with Valtellina, Valcamonica, and the Mediterranean. These ancient paths made the church a key stop for pilgrims and travelers.
This charming Romanesque jewel is notable for its elegant Romanesque bell tower and the remains of a medieval xenodochium — an old pilgrims’ refuge. During restoration, a precious cycle of frescoes dating back to the 12th century was uncovered. On the apse walls, Santa Perpetua is surrounded by a group of saints, each named next to their image: St. Jude Thaddeus, St. Matthew, St. Paul, St. Peter, St. James, and near the sacristy door, St. Luke, whose halo remains faintly visible.
