The Mulino dei Plaz (Mulì di Plaz) is an old watermill consisting of two very similar stone-built structures, located near the Aprica stream, which provides its driving force. The main building certainly predates 1816, while the second one was probably built during the 14th century. The mill definitively ceased operation in 1977.
After its abandonment, the Mulino dei Plaz was no longer functional and became unsafe due to soil humidity and the lack of proper maintenance over the years. The restoration project aimed to rehabilitate the mill and the surrounding land, creating a theme park designed to preserve the mountain cultural heritage and the traditions of the Orobie Alps. In the area adjacent to the mill, a cultivation project of ancient Valtellina grains (buckwheat, barley, and rye) has been started, ensuring the protection of local agricultural biodiversity. A small exhibition of documents and tools related to cultivation, along with guided visits to the mill, allows visitors to rediscover a historical and cultural reality too often forgotten.
