In the vibrant heart of Tirano awaits the magnificent Palazzo Salis, a historic residence dating from between 1630 and 1690. This palace was home to the noble Conti Sertoli Salis family, who ruled Valtellina for centuries as podestà and governors, and who still own it today.
Every corner of the palace tells a story, starting with its ten frescoed rooms which, during the 17th and 18th centuries, served as a political hub that shaped Valtellina’s history. After careful restorations, Palazzo Salis has regained its former splendor. The exterior features a late 16th-century façade flanked by two towers and a central Baroque portal designed in the style of “Il Vignola.”
Inside, you can explore a museum route through the Baroque-style rooms, each transporting you back in time. The grand staircase leads to the Ballroom. Among the most fascinating rooms are the Reading Room (Saloncello), the Hall of the Turks, and the Studiolo of Olympus, housing precious paintings and ancient volumes.

Opening Hours 2025
From April 19 to the end of October: Monday to Saturday, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Special opening: Sunday, April 20.
For groups of more than 10 people, it is always recommended to book a guided tour (tours can also be arranged at different times and on Sundays).
From November to the end of March: openings upon request by reservation only – for groups of at least 20 people.

Entrance ticket: €10.00, including an audio guide.
For groups, booking a guided tour is recommended (available in Italian, English, and German).
Tour duration: approximately 50 minutes.
By reservation, it is also possible to visit the historic 16th-century cellars (groups only – additional €3 per person).
