A2A SUPPORTS THE “SOGGIORNI STELLATI” PROJECT AS ENERGY EFFICIENCY PARTNER TO PROMOTE SUSTAINABLE TOURISM IN MEDIA VALTELLINA
Sondrio, August 1, 2025 – A2A, through its subsidiary A2A Energy Solutions, announces its support for the Soggiorni Stellati project, promoted by the Consorzio Turistico Media Valtellina with the aim of guiding the area towards a path of sustainable tourism. The initiative represents a strategic lever to enhance local resources and foster a new culture of hospitality, in line with the UN 2030 Agenda goals.

“Valtellina is a territory with which our Group has a long-standing bond. With this project, we are making available A2A Energy Solutions’ expertise and solutions to improve the energy efficiency of accommodation facilities, reduce their environmental impact, and promote the use of renewable energy sources,” said Gianluca Ragonesi, Chairman and CEO of A2A Energy Solutions. “Together with the Consorzio Turistico Media Valtellina, we want to help develop a model of sustainable tourism, with the goal of enhancing local resources and offering environmentally friendly services.”
“The Consorzio immediately believed in the Soggiorni Stellati project,” stated Marcella Pini, President of the Consorzio Turistico Media Valtellina. “Tourism in our area is a driving economic factor, and every year we welcome more and more guests. This is precisely why it is essential that our accommodation facilities become increasingly sustainable from an environmental perspective. The journey will not be easy, but we are confident that the partnership with A2A Energy Solutions will lead us in this direction.”

As an Energy Efficiency Partner, A2A will provide technical support and energy consultancy to participating operators, who will be able to obtain the Soggiorni Stellati recognition through an evaluation system managed by the Consorzio Turistico Media Valtellina. According to this system, from one to five stars will be awarded based on the level of sustainability achieved. A2A’s goal is to support Media Valtellina’s tourism sector in optimizing energy consumption through targeted efficiency solutions and the use of energy from renewable sources. The collaboration will also extend to awareness and training activities for industry operators, with meetings aimed at fostering ethical, responsible, and resource-conscious management practices.
Launched by the Consorzio in 2020, the project is part of the broader context of local and regional policies for ecological transition, such as the Lombardy Pact for Sustainable Development, and aims to encourage the creation of low-impact accommodation facilities as well as the renovation of existing ones. Today, the Consorzio includes several members, among them twelve municipalities of Media Valtellina and over one hundred economic operators, including accommodation facilities, mobility service providers, and restaurants.

A strategic pillar of the initiative is sustainable mobility, with eco-mobility solutions such as routes accessible on foot, by bicycle, train, kayak, skis, or light electric vehicles. The project places special emphasis on the development of infrastructure in the participating areas, promoting the installation of charging stations for electric vehicles and E-Bikes powered by renewable sources, located near accommodation facilities and tourist itineraries. Furthermore, synergies with local public transport and the enhancement of the existing cycling and walking network are also planned.
At the same time, with an eye to younger generations, the A2A Group will participate in Protagonisti, the educational spin-off of Soggiorni Stellati aimed at local high school students. Through a series of multidisciplinary meetings, the Group, in collaboration with the Consorzio Turistico Media Valtellina, will promote deeper knowledge of ecological transition issues.

Through this partnership, A2A strengthens its bond with one of its historic territories, confirming its commitment to local sustainable development and contributing to the creation of a responsible tourism model that combines innovation with environmental protection.
