Sunday, September 28, the Mela Vertical returns!
The ninth edition of the competitive mountain running race and the non-competitive fun walk, open to everyone, takes place along the vertical kilometer trail of Villa di Tirano, with a total elevation gain of 1,000 meters over a distance of 3.4 kilometers.
The route follows the old Peita–Sasso mule track: starting from the terraced vineyards, it quickly climbs into broadleaf forests dominated by centuries-old chestnut trees. Along the way, participants pass the ruins of ancient hamlets once permanently inhabited, before reaching the alpine meadows of Stavello, where wide open pastures overlook the valley floor. The final effort leads to the Sasso clearing, where the broadleaf forest gradually gives way to conifer woods.
