The Prena Ring

The Prena Ring

A little-known but easy itinerary to walk in complete safety that allows us to appreciate the slope east of the Pian di Gembro Nature Reserve.

Leaving the car in the parking lot near the Ristoro Pian di Gembro, take the path immediately after the snowcat shed of the cross-country trail, climbing to the right. The first section is a real path that later becomes a road and reaches the fork that goes up towards “Prosolone.” Keeping to the right and passing some huts, we move toward Mount Borca; the road continues flat until it reaches some hairpin bends and, following the forks on the left, re-enters toward the plateau of “Prena.”

The trail passes a stupendous panoramic balcony over the Orobie Mountains and, descending, reaches the locality “Prosolone” from where it returns, closing the loop.

Normal snow hiking equipment (snowshoes, poles or possibly crampons) is recommended to tackle the “Prena” trail.
