Basilica Madonna di Tirano

A guided tour of one of the most important Renaissance buildings in the Alpine arc, in terms of religion, art and history. The Basilica was built following the apparition of the Virgin Mary to Mario Omodei on September 29, 1504.

Chapel of Santa Perpetua

From the Basilica square, a scenic dirt trail climbs through the vineyards to the ancient Xenodochium of Santa Perpetua (11th century), a former hostel for pilgrims and travelers perched at 550 m above sea level.
Comfortable shoes recommended. Not suitable for strollers.

Crotti of Piattamala and Chapel of Santa Perpetua
Saturday, July 12 / July 26 / August 16 / August 30 – all at 5:00 PM
A walk along the historic border between the Duchy of Milan and the Republic of the Three Leagues. Starting from the Piattamala archaeological site (where Bronze Age daggers were found), the path leads past two traditional dome-shaped stone “crotti” to the medieval chapel of Santa Perpetua. The terraced landscape is now part of the UNESCO intangible heritage.
Comfortable shoes recommended.

Castle of Santa Maria and the Ancient Sforza Walls

A pleasant walk through the old town to discover the remains of Tirano’s ancient city walls and the three historical gates—Poschiavina, Milanese and Bormina—as well as the Castle of Santa Maria (“Castellaccio”), offering panoramic views over the town and surrounding mountains.

Water Trails and Stories

A guided walk dedicated to water, a precious resource historically abundant in Tirano. The city is dotted with diverse fountains, washhouses, and troughs, all essential meeting places in daily life and vital for irrigating the terraced vineyards of the Rhaetian slopes.
